O Bless a Sassy Prayer?

One of our sisters loves to tell the story that when she was a little girl, during October which is the month dedicated to our Lady of the Rosary, "O Queen of the Holy Rosary" was often sung at Mass. The first words are: "O Queen of the Holy Rosary, oh bless us as we pray." However, Sister is from New England and sometimes their words sound like soup. Little Susan (named changed to protect the guilty) was sure it was, "oh, bless a sassy prayer" and would sing this with great 8 year old gusto! Sassy prayers sounded good to her!

The month of October is a special one for us at this monastery dedicated to our Lady of the Rosary. Not only is she our special patroness, but our monastery was founded for the purpose of honoring her most holy Rosary, going to Jesus through Mary in praise and adoration. Our monastery was fittingly founded in the month of October on the feast of the Holy Angels who, as the Divine Office tells us, "ceaseless adore the Face of the Heavenly Father," —which is a vocation we are priveleged to share in in part here on earth and hope to do so for all eternity in heaven.

Recently, we were priveleged to have a visit with George Bell and 2 other members of the newly formed "The Third Order of Penance of St. Dominic" which is hoping to be approved as an Association of the Faithful and be a branch of the Fraternities of St. Dominic or the Dominican Third Order. They presented us with a lovely gift of this picture of our Lady of the Rosary which now hangs in our refectory. Thank you George, Sonny and Andy!
