Summer Is For Studying

While most people might think of summer as a time for vacation for us it's the time when most of our lecturers can come to give us classes. This year we managed to schedule THREE in secession with only a day's break in between.

After Fr. Joseph left us, Fr. Samuel Weber, OSB came for a few days to give a workshop on Gregorian chant to the novitiate sisters. Father left yesterday and so Sr. Maria, our music directress, lost no time in making sure that the novitiate Sisters keep up their new skills. This afternoon, our roving photographer caught them up in the novitiate community room practicing the for Mass on St. Dominic's day.

This evening, Fr. Dennis Billy, OSSR, began his lecturers on the "Harrowing of Hell" which is part of the ongoing formation program provided by the Association of the Nuns of the Order of Preachers for the monasteries. Rev. Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., is professor of the history of moral theology and Christian spirituality at the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome.

This year's theme is the Creed. Every monastery hosts a series of lecturers which are taped. These tapes are then sent to the coordinating Sister who spends many hours copying the tapes and any outlines and handouts and these are all sent to our monasteries so that we can share the fruits of our study with each other.

We are looking forward to St. Dominic's day. The CFR novices and priests from Blessed Sacrament Friary in Newark will be joining us for Mass.
Recreation fun! Lauren demonstrates how many ways you can wear a bandanna. As a reward, she was given a World Youth Day bandanna given us by our Student Brothers from WYD in Canada. Imagine what Lauren might do with her postulant veil!
