Tis the Month of Our Mother!

May is Mary's month! Sunday is "First Sunday" here at the monastery as we continue our nearly 90 year tradtion of the Rosary Pilgrimage.

While we had fewer pilgrims than usual—most likely because in the area parishes it was also First Holy Communion Sunday—we all came with hearts full of love to honor our Blessed Mother and crown her as the Queen of our hearts!

Rev. Bro. Isaiah Mary Molano, OP was the guest preacher. He led us through meditating on the meaning of the fifth Glorious Mystery, the Crowning of our Lady as Queen of heaven and earth. You can listen to his homily below.

Brother Isaiah is from the Holy Name Province, also known as the "western province" of the Dominican Order but he is here this year studying at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. He will be ordained to the priesthood next year.

We put Brother to work as soon as he arrived setting up tables and chairs for the reception after the Holy Hour.

Molly Sauer, daughter of the podiatrist of many of our sisters crowned our Lady's statue...on her First Holy Communion Day!

Every little girl is happy that Rich Sofie is there to help!

The holy hour concluded with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

The parlor is always a little crazy after the pilgrimage and well, Bro. Isaiah fit right in!

Our long-time friends Maria and Ed Insinger stopped by to say hello.

Molly poses with the Sisters on a day she will remember for many years to come!

Dr. Joanne Sauer and her mom. We tried to get the whole family—brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles—together for a photo but it didn't quite work!
