Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from all of the nuns! We have remembered you in our prayers, particularly during the Christmas Novena of Masses which we offer for our relatives, friends and benefactors.

Sr. Mary Agnes gave the sermon at the Christmas Solemn Chapter this year, which takes place on the morning of Christmas Eve. During the rest of the day, sisters put the finishing touches on their decorations and other various Christmas preparations in the kitchen and for the liturgy. Christmas day is a ‘free recreation’ day aside from our usual times of prayer, with all three meals eaten in the community room as ‘talking’ meals, dispensing from the usual silence. Many generous people donated gifts from our community ‘wishlist’ which were wrapped and put under our tree, and opened on Christmas evening. We have continued to celebrate the joy of Christmas throughout the octave. Tomorrow, December 31, we will take a day of retreat to pray for God’s forgiveness for our failings of the past year, give thanks for the many graces and blessings he has bestowed on us, and pray for the year to come.
