ARCHBISHOP MYERS COMES FOR A VISIT

Most of the community with our Archbishop, John Joseph Myers. Missing from the photo: Sr. Mary Anthony, Sr. Mary Peter, Sr. Mary Antoninus.

On Wednesday, January 5th, Archbishop Myers celebrated a 2 PM Mass in our chapel followed by a delightful visit in our community room. About 50 lay people also attended the Mass.

During his visit, the Archbishop chatted with us about vocations, the needs of our Archdiocese, the Pro-Life movement and of course, the Dominican Order! His Excellency gave us a beautiful Christmas gift—a replica of the statue of our Lady of Grace that is in the Lady Chapel in our Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. We in turn presented him with our Christmas gift: a big basket filled with stollen (yes, we saved one!), rosaries, holy cards and rosary meditations that we designed and printed for the year of the Eucharist and our new booklet and slideshow on our Dominican contemplative life.

The visit was too short but we didn't let our Archbishop leave without assuring him of our prayers and making him pose for a photo! It had been 3 years since his last visit. We hope we won't have to wait that long for the next visit!
