Sinking Roots

This past week we had the pleasure of the visit of Fr. John Vidmar, OP, archivist of the Province of St. Joseph. Fr. Vidmar also teaches history at Providence College.

Fr. Vidmar came to give several lectures to the novitiate on the history of the Order in the US and the Province of St.Joseph. Because the Professed Sisters didn't want to miss out we held the lectures in our community room-refectory so that all could attend. Father is a born story telling and he kept us rapt in attention as he unfolded the incredible story that is the Dominican Order in the United States.

Fr. Vidmar is the author of several books: The Catholic Church through the Ages: A History, Praying with the Dominicans: To Praise, to Bless, to Preach, English Catholic Historians And The English Reformation, 1585-1954, 101 Questions & Answers on the Da Vinci Code and the Catholic Tradition, and a history of the Province of Saint Joseph.

This isn't Father Vidmar's first visit with us and we know it won't be the last! We look forward to his future lectures on the English Reformation.
