Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in the Philippines!

Cainta, Philippines

Today, on the feast of the proto-marytr of the Philippines, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, a member of the Dominican Fraternities, and the other Dominican martyrs of Nagasaki, Japan, we pray especially for our brothers and sisters suffering from the typhoon that hit the Metro-Manila area last week.

This photo is of Cainta, a suburb of Manila that was one of the hardest hit. Our monastery (our foundation in 1977) is on a hill in that town. So, while they are probably not flooded, the road and surrounding area is most likely under water and they have no electricity, water, etc. We haven't heard any news from them yet.

Please pray for these people who year after year suffer from such disasters yet never lose their welcome smiles or their deep, deep faith in Christ and Our Lady!

Our Sr. Maria Agnes and Sr. Maria Veneranda are natives of the Philippines. Sr. Mary Elizabeth, Sr. Mary Catharine and our deceased Sr. Mary Albert all have visited there and experienced the beautiful hospitality of the people of this country. In 1977, Mother Marie Rosaria, Sr. Maria Agnes, Sr. Maria Guadalupe, Sr. Maria Aurea and Sr. Maria Lucina founded the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary in Cainta, Rizal.
