2011 Novice Mistress Meeting

Howdy, ya'll! It's Sr. Mary Catharine here, spending 10 days at our beautiful monastery of the Infant Jesus in the heart of East Texas! I arrived on the 16th and was warmly welcomed by Sr Maria Guadalupe and Sr. Mary Jeremiah at the airport. After a short ride of 2.5 hours we arrived home at the monastery.

The other sisters arrived the next day. There are 9 novice mistresses here from the various monasteries of that belong to the Association of Nuns.

This past week, Sr. Mary Angela, OP, novice mistress of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia shared her experience in forming in the Dominican way of life the many young women that come through their doors. We were delighted to have her and she enjoyed her time with us.

Today we are having a wonderful retreat day. The Sisters' chaplain overslept and that gave us nearly an hour of private prayer before Mass--a wonderful way to start a retreat day! After breakfast, Sr Mary John, the prioress of the monastery, gave us a beautiful reflection the relationship of law and love emphasizing that the New Law is Jesus himself.

Next week Sr. Dominica, OP, of the Springfield Dominican Sisters will be giving us some lectures on Canon Law, looking at the section on religious life in particular.

But first, Sunday we will have a picnic!

The Lufkin community has been ahead of me and has posted some great photos. Go check them out!
