Composers Meet

Sr. Maria and Sr. Mary Catharine visit with Kevin Allen and Fr. Peter Stravinskas

Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting a wonderful composer of sacred music, Kevin Allen. Our good friend, Fr. Peter Stravinskas brought him by for a brief visit and our composer, Sr. Maria of the Cross Gennaro, was thrilled to have such a wonderful visit on the patronal feast of her family!

If you don't know about Kevin...you should! His music, written in a medieval style, is just beautiful and a welcome contribution to Church Music. You can purchases DVD's, musical scores and listen to samples from Corpus Christi Watershed. This group is doing amazing things in making quality music available for the Liturgy.

Our visit with Kevin was way too short and we probably scared him when we admitted that our weekly music practice most weeks is a paltry 20 minutes! What we didn't point out (hope you're reading this Kevin!) is that we sing EVERY DAY for over 3 hours from 5:55 AM until 9PM at night!

We are looking forward to learning a few of Kevin's motets in the very near future!
