Solemn Profession of Sr. Mary Magdalene of the Immaculate Conception, OP

On January 1st, the Solemnity of the Mother of God, Sr. Mary Magdalene of the Immaculate Conception, OP made her Solemn Profession 'usque ad mortem' in the hands of our prioress Sr. Mary Martin de Porres. The chapel was filled with friends and family. The sanctuary, also, was packed! Although Bishop Cruz was unable to officiate as planned, Fr. David Marstall was delegated for the task. Fr. David has known sister since her time at Pittsburg State University in Kansas where he was chaplain.

Fr. Richard Mary Jastrzebski, OP, Fr. Francis Maione, Fr. Cieran Fergus, OP (our previous chaplain),  Fr. Peter Stravinskas, Fr. Zachary Swantek, Fr. John Vidmar, OP, Fr. Chris Walsh, and Fr. Carmine Rizzi concelebrated. (Fr. Carmine is Sr. Mary Magdalene's seminarian prayer partner from 6 years ago who was ordained in 2013.) Richard Sofie, Mark & Zachary Pron, and Luis served the Mass while Rev. Br. John Maria Devaney, OP, was the deacon. Also in the sanctuary were four Dominican Student Brothers of St. Joseph's Province: Br. John Sica, OP, Br. Athanasius Murphy, OP, Br. Gregory Maria Pine, OP, and Br. Ambrose Arralde, OP.

We give thanks to God for the great gift of Sister's profession!
