3rd Annual Dominican Nuns Gala
On Thursday, October 20th, the Grand Summit Hotel hosted our 3rd Dominican Nuns Gala. The night began with guests joining us for 5:30 Votive Mass of St Dominic at the Monastery. The Mass was con-celebrated by Fr. Jack Carmichael, Fr. Marco Celis, Fr. Bill Mahon, and Fr. Roger Landry. Fr. Roger Landry gave a beautiful homily that really set the tone for the evening! If you weren't able to be with us you can still listen or read Father's homily here. After Mass everyone (well, except for the nuns!) headed over to the Grand Summit for the Gala festivities. Besides the hotel's delicious food, there were live and silent auctions as well as a DJ for dancing. The tables were beautifully decorated with center pieces by Jerry Rose.
This year's Gala honored some very special friends of the Monastery: Mark Giangiulio of the Grand Summit Hotel, the Ippolitos of Paul Ippolito Memorial, and Buddy Fortunato of The Italian Tribune. We couldn't continue to live our life of prayer if it wasn't for all our friends and benefactors, and this Gala wouldn't have been such a success if it wasn't for the Gala Co-Chairs: Susan Janazzo and Gina Wood. We can't forget to mention all of the hard work of our Director of Development Maryann Cocoziello and her assistant Kathy Hubert McKenn , either!
There were some fabulous items donated for the auctions this year, including NJ Devils Hockey Tickets, What a Dish Dinner for Eight, 1 week stay at a Kiawah Island Home, 3 night weekend stay at a Finger Lakes Getaway, NY Mets Tickets, 4 tickets to the Stephen Colbert Show, Ny Giants tickets, a "behind the scenes" Fox News Tour, and a "House Portrait in Watercolors" to be custom painted! Congratulations to all of the auction winners and thank you for your support!
