Sr Mary Ana begins Integration
Today, Sr. Mary Ana moved “downstairs,” beginning her time of integration and joining the professed community as well as her novitiate companion, Sr. Maria Johanna, who integrated in July.
Sisters continue to live in the novitiate and under the guidance of the novice mistress for usually about two years after their first profession, after which they integrate to the professed community. “Integration” is a time of adjusting to life as a professed nun, moving to the professed dormitory (which we call “downstairs”, but is really just down the hall and down a couple steps!) and experiencing more independence as well as taking on more responsibilities.
