Golden Jubilee

On Saturday, June 22nd, we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Sr. Mary Martin de Porres of Jesus, OP, our prioress. Fifty years ago, on June 13, 1969, Sr. Mary Martin made her First Profession in the hands of Mother Marie Rosaria, OP, at the age of 19. Many of Sister’s family and friends were able to attend the Mass and reception including her brother John Jacobs, and his sons & daughters Annette Jacobs, James Jacobs & wife Michelle, Diana Leach, and Matthew Jacobs & wife Rachel. Our chaplain, Fr. Gregory Salomone, OP, gave the homily, but had been requested by sister not to make it into a eulogy because, as she said, “I’m not dead yet!” Also assisting at the altar were: Fr. Anthony Ciorra, Fr. William Mahon, Fr. Patrick Seo, Deacon Kevin Reina, with acolyte Rich Sofie

On Friday, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we will have our community celebration of Sister’s jubilee.
