Blessed Easter!

This year’s Holy Triduum and Easter were a little bit different. We were blessed to still have access to the liturgies because we have a resident chaplain (attached apartment). We were also acutely aware of how many people were unable to participate not only in the Triduum, but even weekly Mass. This year there were no laity filling the public chapel, no Easter fire, processions, or altar of repose in the Chapter Hall, no kissing the relic of the True Cross or blessing of the Easter water. But there was Christ, at the Last Supper washing His disciples’ feet, speaking to them one last time, alone in the Garden waiting to be betrayed, hanging on the Cross, the emptiness of the only day of the liturgical year without the Sacrifice of the Mass because the King lay dead in the tomb. Then there was Christ, victorious, risen from the dead.
