Photos of Sr. Maria Johanna’s Solemn Profession

This past Saturday, August 6th, Sr. Maria Johanna made her Solemn Profession into the hands of our prioress, Sr. Mary Martin. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Ignatius Schweitzer, O.P. with Deacon Kevin Reina assisting at the altar. Her brother Philip and friend Nathaniel (a seminarian) acted as altar servers. Sister Maria Johanna’s parents and all nine of her siblings were able to be present, along with many other friends and relatives. On the occasion of a Sister’s Solemn Profession, she may leave the enclosure to greet her guests and family at her reception.

A few days later, we had our own party to celebrate. As is our tradition, Sister Maria Johanna acted as Prioress for the day, and we celebrated with a free morning with games outside, and recreation inside in the air conditioning in the afternoon with cookies and ice cream. It was a beautiful and joyful day to celebrate Sister’s “yes” to God usque ad mortem - until death!
