New Gate!
Our long-awaited new gate has finally arrived and been installed! Our gate was badly damaged during the construction of the new wing by the construction equipment which all had to pass through this relatively narrow entrance. Most just barely squeezed by, but some only after more or less serious incidents with the gate.
The installation of the new gate was delayed while we repaved the driveway. With the paving finally finished, the gate was able to be brought and installed a couple weeks ago. Fortunately the men arrived for the installation in the cool of the morning, but before long it was HOT - into the upper 90’s that day. God bless them!
The ironworkers were able to remove the decorative top of our old gate and attach this to an otherwise entirely new gate which looks beautiful. On our old gate, most of the decorative ironwork was on the outside of the gate, meaning that we only saw the very top of it. However, the ironworkers did a wonderful job of placing the decorative circles and swirls on top of the gate so that it can be appreciated both by us nuns as well as anyone on the outside. We think it looks great!
