Party Time!

Peeling party time, that is! A kind woman has been bringing us the bruised and nearly expired produce from one of the local grocery stores which would otherwise be thrown out. It is a wonderful gift to us to receive all of these fruits and vegetables which although perhaps past their sell-by date, are still good (or at least, mostly still good!)

We received several crates of peaches, nectarines, and apricots recently, so it was all hands on deck for a “peeling party” - the nun way to make a job fun! As they say, many hands make light work, and doing it at recreation means that our chatter is going just as fast (or perhaps faster) than our fingers. We now have plenty of fresh summer fruit for the table, for jam, and to save in the freezer to enjoy later in the year.

God bless our benefactors - both the grocery store which is willing to donate the produce it can’t sell, and the generous woman who brings it to us! As we pray at the opening of every chapter meeting, “Be pleased, O Lord, to repay with eternal life all those who do good to us for the sake of your Holy Name.”
