Jubilee Celebration

Today a Mass of Thanksgiving was offered, thanking God for the gift of 50 years of religious life of our Sr. Maria Agnes.

Msgr. William J Reilly, a dear friend of Sister's and responsible for Sister becoming an American citizen was the main celebrant. Fr. Kurt Pritzl, OP, Dean of the School of Philosophy of the Catholic University of America gave the homily focusing on the 1st reading which was from the Prophet Hosea. "I will allure into the desert and speak to her heart." Father talked about what it is that continues to allure a spouse of Christ into the desert of the hidden life long after the intial newness and thrill wears off. It is the gifts of spousal love, of mercy, fidelity and righteousness. Father concluded by highlighting the fact that one does not go out into the desert for oneself but through the life of prayer and intercession Sr. Maria Agnes is here for the needs of the whole world and most especially for the Brethren who preach the Word of God.

Fr. Kieran Fergus, OP, our chaplain, and Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, OP also concelebrated.

Sr. Maria Agnes' many guests attested to the joy and gift of friendship she has brought to so many and we thank God for her vocation and pray that she may serve Him for many more years to come!

Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, OP is always willing to smile for the camera!

Sr. Maria Agnes' guests greet her at St. Ann's parlour which is off of St. Dominic's hall. A reception followed and it was gratifying to see everyone have a good time and even make some new friends! Here Ed Scarinzi, our long time friend and volunteer greets Sr. Maria Agnes.
