July 4th Finale

Our community tradition is to spend evening recreation singing patriotic songs although it seems that everyone knows only the first verse of all them! This evening, Sr. Maria joined Sr. Maria Agnes at the piano and entertained us with some fun duets.(Yes the video is a bit grainy! Sorry!) We closed recreation with singing our national anthem. "Play ball!" someone always shouts out at the end! "Our help is in the name of the Lord," Sr. Mary Martin says and we respond, "Who made heaven and earth."

Because of the rain we thought that the town fireworks would be cancelled but as we were ending Compline we heard BOMB! and all of us lost custody of the eyes and smiled! The younger sisters made a dash outside, taking shelter under the apple tree to enjoy the fireworks. With the last BOMB! BANG! BOMB! the fireworks ended another great 4th of July celebration!

God bless America! We prayed especially today for all our service men and women! May the Lord keep them safe and bring them home!
