PREACH THE WORD: Dominincans and WYD 2008

Well, Down Under there is only 1 day left before WYD 2008 opens! The Dominicans have a prominent presence at this year's gathering, mainly because Bishop Anthony Fisher, OP is the general coordinator.

It is also a great honor that the relics of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, who was a 3rd Order Dominican are present at World Youth Day.

If you want to keep up with what the OP's are doing this week, go over ot the Dominicans and WYD blog. There is a schedule of events listed. The most notable is Dominican WYD Gathering to take place Wednesday night. Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, O.P. and Fr. Paul Murray, OP will be giving talks. There will be Vespers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, also.

We may be on the other side of the world, but feel no less involved, uniting our prayer with all who are attending WYD, asking the Holy Spirit to overpower them. After all, St. John Vianney said, "Miles melt before the Blessed Sacrament!"
