Celebrating Sr. Mary Martin's Feast Day
Because the feast of St. Martin de Porres fell on a Sunday our day-long prioral feast day was transferred to this past Thursday. We had a delightful celebration for Sr. Mary Martin's feast with tasty treats from the kitchen, music, dance and just simply being together.
Each sister greeted Sr. Mary Martin and received a piece of chocolate, stationary and a soap dish!
Danielle picked a great month to make her aspirancy! Lots of feast days!
Even Sabina has to greet the prioress!
Sr. Mary Martin read one of her gifts: a poem by Sr. Maureen about mice!
A group of sisters did the Virginia Reel. The "gentlemen" decided that their costumes were too boring and needed a little spicing up! Sr. Mary Cecilia had us all laughing with "The Alto's Lament" a song that incorporates tunes and words of numerous musicals! (Sr. Mary Cecilia is very much a soprano!)
Sr. Denise Marie played selections for recorder with Sr. Maria Agnes accompanying. Sister has been practicing for nearly a year and this was her debut performance. Sr. Mary Catharine got out her recorder and played a few pieces with Sr. Denise Marie after not playing for about 10 years! Well, maybe we need to practice!
