Introducing Fountain Pens!

At the requests of several customers, limited edition fountain pens are now available online. From start to finish these pens are made by Sr. Woodworker. Sister learned how to make pens from another sister back in July, and by August we had already launched them on the website. Much attention and detail goes into making sure each pen turns out well. The craftsmanship and care of each pen truly makes it a work of art.

This craft fosters a re-connection with the beauty of handcrafted items and the importance of having to work hard to complete a quality item, continuing the tradition of our monastic roots as featured recently in our newsletter.

Sister's pens were even featured on Elizabeth Scalia's blog The Anchoress. with a wonderful picture of what the logo design card looks like. These pens are great for Christmas gifts, which will be upon us soon. This is one item that won't go bad in the coming months so it doesn't hurt to get them early.

In the finishing process 150, 240, 320, 400, 600 grit sandpaper is used to achieve a smooth finish. Then 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000 grit sanding pads with a high friction polish are used to complete the wooden section of the pen a thin coat to protect against fingerprints and supposedly make it "food safe" (I guess for people who like to chew on pens).
