Visits
Awhile ago we received word that a group of seminarians for the Archdiocese asked if we would be their prayer partners. Of course we said 'of course'! Yesterday nine of the seminarians stopped by for a visit. Each sister introduced herself and said who she was praying for. Cheers erupted from the seminarians if the young man was present and a loud 'awww' if he was absent! Very quickly we spread out and were able to speak (shout) one-on-one (or a few!). The noise level reached decibels unheard of before in our parlor! You can click here to get an idea. Afterwards the seminarians prayed rosary and Vespers with us. God willing they will be back one day to say Mass at our altar! Please keep them in your prayers.
(Please excuse all of the pictures, our gallery function seems to be having issues.)
Today we had with us Fr. Vivian Boland, OP who is the Vicar of the Master of the Order (2nd in charge of the Order) and the Master of the Order's Socius for North West Europe and Canada, based in Rome. Father happened to be in the area and, as he is a good friend of our Sr. Mary Ruth Bernard, came to say Mass this morning in honor of sister's silver jubilee (the official date of which was yesterday). The community was able to visit with Father in the parlor this morning and had a wonderful time. We hope to see him again, and next time maybe he'll bring the Master along with him!
Tonight was the Filipino Mass and Dinner Dance to raise funds for our Capital Campaign. This event was held by the Filipino Apostolate of Union County and had almost as many attendees as the Gala! After Mass a few people gave short speeches and a presentation of checks was made to our Prioress, Sr. Mary Martin. Then everyone (again, minus the nuns....our externs got to stay home this time!) headed over to the Memorial Hall at St Teresa of Avila Parish for the Dinner Dance.
Speaking of the Prioress, Sister's feast day was on Monday! Hopefully we will get a blog post up soon with pictures from the festivities.
