Tuesdays with the Church Fathers

This past month we've been spending Tuesday evening with Fr. Doug Milewski, studying what the Church Fathers have to say about the Lord's Prayer. We began with Tertullian and Origen, then went on to St. Gregory of Nyssa. Currently we are working on our reading (homework!) for next Tuesday when we will look at St. Augustine's commentary.

It is interesting how the Fathers differ in their interpretations and emphases. What one Father might see as vitally important and devote at least a sermon to another Father may skip right over! Fr. Milewski not only helps us understand the thinking of the Fathers, but explains especially the historical and theological context that shaped each Father's thought. If you can't tell, we are thoroughly enjoying these lectures and look forward to Tuesday evenings!
