The gift of new priests
It was a joy to watch the ordination of our brothers on television a few days ago, but it was an even greater joy to welcome two of them (so far!) to say Mass for us. Fr. John Sica, OP came to say Mass this past Tuesday. Little did he know when the arrangements were made weeks ago that our chaplain would be unable to celebrate Mass on short notice and we would need someone to fill in. Then on Saturday Fr. Clement Dickie, OP said Mass with our chaplain Fr. Gregory concelebrating. Both Fr. Clement and Fr. John gave beautifully Dominican homilies.
After Mass they gave us their blessings and then we met in the parlor to visit. Of course we wanted to know all of the details from their ordination! Who did they ask to vest them, which chapel did they give their first blessings in, what was the most memorable part of the ordination for them, where did they say their First Mass, etc. etc.! We had wonderful visits with wonderful new priests and we hope this won't be the last time we see them at our altar.
