Construction Project
After many years of plumbing difficulties with the bathrooms in the Sisters’ dormitory, a project is underway to replace all of the plumbing and renovate the bathrooms. The pipes were in bad condition, fragile and corroding. A couple years ago, we had a major leak when attempting to turn a shutoff valve caused a pipe to crack in multiple places inside the walls. Water was cascading down into the first floor refectory and basement laundry below. Thankfully, insurance paid for the water damage. But it was clear that something needed to be done.
By shifting the floor plans around and taking out a storage room, the renovation project will also be giving us one extra bathroom and putting showers in two bathrooms that didn’t have them previously. First came the demolition stage, when everything was torn out of the existing bathrooms. Now we are watching the new bathrooms begin to come together as the framing and new piping are in progress.
An anonymous benefactor is paying for the costs of our renovation project. We are so grateful to them, and to all of our benefactors who make our life of prayer possible. We remember all of you in our daily prayers!
