O Spem Miram!

A Blessed Feast of St. Dominic in this Jubilee Year 2021!

Our new statue of St. Dominic with bronze overlay – thanks to Mike Coviello for the beautiful masonry work on the plinth! (All of the rocks were sourced inside the enclosure.)

As we celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the birth of our Holy Father into Eternal Life, we beg his intercession for every grace in our lives, that we may follow on that same way and come to see our Heavenly Father face to face with all the blessed.

We are delighted to reveal, too, our brand new statue of St. Dominic, which now stands in front of our New Wing on the enclosure side. He was generously donated by one of our benefactors, shipped just in time for our Jubilee celebrations and was beautifully installed by our workmen who so faithfully serve our community. We offer our thanks and, of course, our prayers to all who contributed to this beautiful gift.

We hope he will stand strong for the next 800 years!

Finally, in honor of this special day, we’d like to share with you this recording of the O Spem Miram - the Dominican Chant responsorium sung by the nuns on the Fifteen Tuesdays preceding our Holy Father’s Feast. Since it is so beautifully connected to the last promises of St. Dominic to his brothers and sisters, let us offer this prayer for the salvation of souls and for the growth of the Order:

O wonderful hope which you gave to those who wept for you at the hour of your death,
promising that after your decease you would be helpful to your brethren.

Fulfill, Father what you have said, and help us by your prayers.

You shone on the bodies of the sick with so many miracles;
bring us the help of Christ, to heal our sick souls.

Fulfill, Father what you have said, and help us by your prayers.
