We had so much going on before our Annual Retreat that we’re a little late posting on this event. On Saturday June 29th, Sr. Maria Johanna moved “downstairs” to begin her integration period into the professed community. We call it moving “downstairs”…but it is really only two small steps! Our constitutions require that a nun in temporary profession integrate at least one year before Solemn Profession. In our monastery a nun in temporary profession integrates somewhere around two years after her first profession. It is a big step as the rules of interaction between the professed and the novitiate now apply to the newly integrated sister and the adjustment is usually a bit hard for both the integrating sister and the sisters “left behind” in the novitiate. It is also an exciting time as the sister experiences more independence along with more responsibilities.
